My Research

How can the tools of  'expanded' choreography be situated within the milieu of the pedagogic act? This question drove the research of the participatory choreographic project “The Nomadic School of Moving Thought”. The project explored the intersections between unconventional choreographic tools and pedagogy, aiming at shifting learning from being mind-centered to bodying-centered by exposing the importance of the multiplicity of the relational body within the learning process.

The research took multiple directions on ‘making, attending, performing' for both the learner and the dance practitioner following a rhizomatic approach.

The project captured the moving thought of the participants as an awareness of where learning happens, identifying bodies and spaces as collections of temporalities.

The post-qualitative analytical process manifested in different affective performative spaces, and foregrounded the creative engagement of the participants, exposing the entwined relationship between human and non- human.

The fusion between expanded choreography and pedagogy upholds the transition from a space of performance of power to an open-ended, expansive space of ethical sensible entities.

Collaboration in  Research

I took part as a member  in the 'NOMADIC ACADEMY', a project by Anna Konjetzky. Funded by TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund with the support of the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. With friendly support of the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich.
I took part as a member in the research group in the two academies: In Athens in 2020, and in Munich in 2021.
In Athens we research around the themes of alternative spaces, free spaces, alternative roads and border(s), under the heading ‘mapping the unseen’ using a range of practical and theoretical methods.
We continued around the themes of: visibilities and representation, around power structures, and borders (within a society, within a city). We took the question of the covered rivers, to question general politics and body politics, where does it happen to hide things, to push out of the field of vision, because it is not ‘clean‘ enough. So who cleans what? and who? and who cleans up after us? (waste, queer visibility, human waste…)

In March 2021 the first part of the 2nd Munich Platform of the NOMADIC ACADEMY had the title “Allies and Alienation”. Due to the remote situation,  Anna Konjetzky developed a format for resonances, a chain-structure/ exchange, where we have worked digitally. (https://nomadic-academy-ak.com/chains/)

In June 2021, we have managed to travel so, the  part of the 2nd Munich Platform of the NOMADIC ACADEMY took place under the headline “alliances, connection and care”; In addition to internal research with the permanent Munich group of artists, we worked also with associations and initiatives, such as the group JUNO – a voice for refugee women.
